8. Course objectives

Metabolic profiles, function and mechanisms of regulation of all organs and systems of the human body; mechanism of action of hormones and consequences of disorders of hormonal regulation; changes in the functioning of the body in a situation of disruption of homeostasis; definition and pathophysiology of shock, with particular emphasis on differentiating the causes of shock and multi-organ failure; importance of disorders of water-electrolyte and acid-base metabolism in the homeostasis of the body; The consequences of improper nutrition, including prolonged starvation, the intake of excessively large meals and the use of an unbalanced diet, as well as disorders of digestion and absorption of digestive products; the impact of environmental factors on health; osteoporosis; the pathophysiology of selected systems; the mechanism of aging; the use of databases, including the Internet, and the search for the necessary information using the available tools; critical analysis of the literature; teamwork.
